Rocky’s Weekly Stock Picks

*Prices as of 6/27 ~5:00 PM

This week our picks are going to be Detroit stuff; for reasons that aren’t directly related to investing, but are directly related to Rockydennis Presents.

Don’t worry, we’re not going to waste your time with explanations here! We’re going straight to the picks!

  1. CMA - $47.84/share, 5.9% yield, weekly options.

Comerica Bank. We’re fans of most banking institutions. Most. Stay away from Bank of America, and to a lesser extent, Wells Fargo.

Or maybe we should buy shares and vote? Hmm… in any case, we’re buying Comerica.

  2. F -$12.23/share, 4.95% yield, weekly options.

Ford Motor Company. You really can’t get wrong here. Classic blue chip stock.

  3. F/PD - $25.17/share, 6.49% yield. These are preferred shares and therefore don’t have options. Also, they may be listed differently on your brokerage. Fidelity lists these notes as F/PD.

This is more Ford, btw. While we normally don’t like to buy preferred shares at or above coupon value, we can make an exception from time to time.

  4. DTRL - $331/share, 2.35% yield. No options.

We aren’t really sure what Detroit Legal News does, though it does fall into the communications sector so we can sort of extrapolate from there.

Fidelity makes virtually no information available. Luckily, Nasdaq’s website confirms a lengthy history of dividend payouts.

Historically, the price has been stable since 2016, though is down significantly from its original listing in 2009.

  5. UFPI - $109.28/share, 1.26% yield, options trade monthly.

UFP makes wood and non-wood composites. We can’t even copy/paste from Fidelity, because it’d just be too much at once. Basically if you touch anything, anywhere, UFP Industries was somehow involved.

It operates through Retail, Packaging, and Construction segments.

The construction part seems to be largely in wood and wood composite molds for concrete.

As far as share price, it only seems to go one direction.
