Rocky’s Weekly Stock Picks

Summer is over.

Maybe we called it last week already?

Either way, it’s time to put money into things.

  1. ARR - $5.06/share, $0.08/month in 2023, ex-div 8/13. Options trade monthly. With a $2.50 strike spread, there’s not a whole lot incentive to sell calls; but you do you, boo-boo.

This is a house favorite, can’t go wrong. Also, it’s held in some of the biggest dividend-focused ETFs. If it’s good enough for fat cat investors, surely it’s good enough for us.

  2. NRT - $13.64/share, quarterly dividends, monthly options, ex-div 8/17, annualized at 21.99%! Holy moly! The upcoming dividend is only $0.21, though.

Northern European Oil Royalty Trust conducts no active business operations and is restricted to collection of income from royalty rights. Countries involved are Federal Republic of Germany. The rights are held under contracts with local German exploration and development subsidiaries of ExxonMobil Corp. (ExxonMobil) and the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies (Royal Dutch/Shell Group).

Royal Dutch, you say? If memory serves us, aren’t Dutch Companies historically known for being global conglomerates that exploit people and resources for unbelievable profits?

Isn’t Exxon also similarly evil and profit-driven?

We like where this is going.

  3. CHKR - $1.15/share, ex-div 8/18, annualizing at 18.64%. Upcoming dividend this quarter is $0.0178.

This is another oil & gas royalty trust, and is also a pink sheet. This is where we recommend using Tradestation - No fees for OTC trades!

We only use the Desktop version. There is a $10/month inactivity fee if you don’t average 10 trades each quarter.

  4. CLM - $8.73/share, ex-div 8/14, monthly distributions. Going into 2024, the distribution will remain at 21%. This means we can expect to continue to realize double digit gains in the teens (currently over 16% annualized).

For 2023 we’ve left our holdings on a DRIP, but may move to taking profit in 2024. We’ll see.
(A DRIP, or Dividend Reinvestment Plan, automatically reinvests distributions into more shares. This is a non-taxable event!)

  5. KIROY - $7.89/share, ex-div 8/17, $0.4022 distribution this quarter. Another OTC pink sheet. Another mineral royalty.

This time we’re looking at iron ore. Yay!

    In South Africa. …. ….. …

You can’t win if you don’t play!
