Rocky’s Weekly Stock Picks
This week we’re keeping it simple. Largely because our ACAD position got assigned for a 2.25% profit, not counting whatever we’ve made on rolling calls. Not a bad place to be in, considering it was a LEAP we’ve been stuck in the money for a hot minute.
UEC - $4.07/share, monthly options. We’re selling puts on Uranium Energy Corporation. If you haven’t heard about them in the news lately, you’ve at least heard of the Athacasa basin. Multiple companies are working that area, and for good reason.
What sets UEC apart is that they’ve been contracted to fill up the United States’ uranium reserves.
Weird how the US government won’t subsidize widescale nuclear construction, yet stockpiles fuel-grade uranium. Seems sus.PBR.A - $10.03/share, monthly options, monthly distributions. They just paid a dividend, so the shares are trading at a slight discount. This Brazilian petro company is…a petro company. Good old black gold.
Despite the Illuminati’s best efforts to destabilize Brazil, this secret superpower isn’t slowing down its energy efforts. There are ADR fees involved, but so what? Honestly, who really cares? We certainly do not.
There are sometimes multiple distributions within the same month. Our staff haven’t bothered to find out the reasons, nor do any of us care. Last month we got paid three times. Yes, please.CS - $3.57/share, weekly options, quarterly dividends. We’re selling a put on CS, as well. And a call on our previously assigned put.
There is no way to lose selling puts on securities you want to hold. Well, there is, if you get greedy/impatient and start taking risks you aren’t actually willing to take.
Trust us, we fall into that trap often. The problem is that what you want to happen, and what will happen, are almost never the same.RISK MANAGEMENT IS PRIORITY ONE
HAS - $58.61/share, monthly options, quarterly dividends, ex-div 1/31. 4.78% yield.
We think Hasbro will continue to be a functioning toy brand long into the future, and we see $100 as our entry price. HAS has been below that mark for the last year, and we’re totally fine with that. Nothing wrong with averaging down on a long-term buy and hold.GPP - $13.65/share, monthly options, quarterly distributions, annualized 13.33%, ex-div 2/02. Green Plains Partnership is, as the name implies, a Limited Partnership. This means you get “return of capital” until you’ve been made whole on your investment. (This means no taxes until you ROI).
Freakin’ sweet.
