2021 Goals Review

I can and I did. If I can do it, so can you.

Technically I haven’t won yet until Jan 1st.

If you’re just joining us here at Rockydennis Presents, here’s a quick catchup. I’m Rockydennis, and I’m an alcoholic. Last year my character in a videogame started a business (two businesses) in real life. One of those enterprises is Rockydennis Presents. The other, RDP Arkenstone, is more like a real business in that it has actual rules to follow. It’s an investment firm in its infancy.

Rockydennis Presents doesn’t qualify for a business loan from Paypal;
Dear Rockydennispresents,

Thank you for your recent PayPal Business Loan request. We regret to inform you that after careful consideration, we were unable to approve your request at this time for the following reason(s):

We don't do business with this industry type

Hurtful.

“But Rocky!”, you interrupt pointedly, “What about your goals?!”.

Oh, right. Here’s some goals I set for myself for 2021

  1. Keep it sober. Abstinence has never caused something bad to happen.

  2. Generate an extra paycheck per week. If you’ve been able to get on board with writing calls, great, this should be easy to do. What is a fair deadline? $50/week + reinvest earned premiums (basically give yourself a 10% compounded interest rate)…. let’s say 20 weeks? Then at the bare minimum we have saved $1000.

  3. Hit Rank 10 on Reaver. I’ll just have to avoid getting banned.

Well, so far so good on #1. Tbh it’s not something I think about a lot. It just doesn’t even really matter. The first year seems rough in retrospect, but I remember enjoying it. Probably because I didn’t realize the extent of the brain damage. Once in a while I’ll have a dream and end up drinking. Not a dream about drinking, but, you know, there’s beer available. I’ll wake up feeling legit hungover, and it can persist throughout the day.

#2 I had a hard time determining whether I had achieved this or not. It’s referring to using covered calls to generate income. Since the quantified goal was apparently $1000 in savings, I guess we managed that. Even if we take “$50/week + reinvest premiums” out of context, we’re still left with a true fact, or at least not untrue. Also at the time my salary income was hourly income and the CCP virus was reducing my working hours. Not political overreaction/overreach, obviously.

#3. Rank 10 happened last night. And I did get banned. Twice. After hitting Rank 9. I had R9 on another server already as well from years back. Thus far on this newest, and not permabanned account, I have only gotten 1 short suspension.

I’m not ready to lay out 2022 goals. I probably ought to, since the website is paid for already. There’s a lot going on. Right now, I’m wrestling with the idea of a lifetime annuity. At 3% return, then in 34 years we’ll ROI. If you could like, reinvest a part of that return, that’d be cool.
The thing is, in 35 years, 3% of $100,000 (about $300’month fixed income) isn’t really worth much. I feel like you could get much, much more return in a shorter time with a $100,000 investment.

On the other hand, apparently some lifetime annuities can start paying a beneficiary as young as 5 years of age. Imagine getting a lifetime annuity for your kid and just dropping that money into a Fidelity managed fund or something. Or a trust maybe? Idk how those work. I have some vague idea, but, yeah.
